Kristian Schuller | Calikartel

I love the first image of this series by Kristian Schuller. I think the flowing dress, the penny farthing and the circus tent really add to create a strong feeling of being in a fantasy playground. The second image works well also with great lighting, models pose in mid flight and the 1920 car.

Andrea Klarin

This short series by Andrea Klarin has captured my attention. The lighting is beautiful and the scene is interesting but not distracting. Somehow the lighting reminds me a a film I watched recently, Sucker Punch. The effect is very 'dreamy' and almost surreal.

Sebastian Kim

I keep seeing the work of Sebastian Kim pop up and I must say his style appeals to me.

He started out by assisting Richard Avedon, a great portrait photographer, then assisted Steven Meisel, a great fashion photographer. He certainly struck gold with those two greats as teachers and you can certainly see a bit of each of them in his work.

A studio based video editorial

Maybe I should be calling them 'motion editorials' as that seems to be the accepted term.

Here's another motion editorial that's shot in the studio and is in contrast to the previous one I posted. This one is a lot slower, and focuses on a different mood. These motion editorials have one added bonus over stills editorials and that is audio. The audio that accompanies the editorial really sets the tone for the whole shoot and goes 90% of the way to dictating the target audience.

Video editorial

I've been looking at video editorial shoots a bit lately and am going to have a play with shooting one.

I stumbled across this one which is a cross between a video editorial and a fashion video, either way I'm hooked. The energy given off by this shoot is amazing and will keep any viewers attention.

I Love this shoot for it's tonal range and flow of lines throughout the shoot.

Horst P. Horst

I'm loving the work of Horst P. Horst at the moment. His Fashion and portraits shots have the best lighting I've seen for a while. We've got something in common too, he was a Defence Force photographer in Germany for a few years during the war, second that is.

Urko Suaya

I'm loving this shoot for its quirkiness and interesting way of focusing on shoes. The lighting  is so natural and beautiful as is the styling and composition. I love the colours, so subtle with brief hits of bright pink, green, orange and yellow.
